    Are you interested in attending summer school in July? Summer school registration forms are now available in the counseling center. Early registration is for the next two weeks.

    Grads who are planning on attending convocation ceremonies on Friday, May 24, must have their $50 convocation fee paid by this Friday or you will be taken off the list and not able to participate.  If you are planning not to attend convocation, please see your counselor this week to let them know.
     
    The following students need to see Ms. Chan today: Chen Wang, Andrew Chen, David Koo, James Luo, and Susan Yu.
     
    All International Students are invited to a pizza lunch next Wednesday in Ms. Chan's room.

    Congrats to the Yale track and field team on a gruelling but great week at the Fraser Valleys.  Numerous team members had their best performances of the season with many qualifying for the BCs.   Hats off to Eddie "the Machine" Masic in the triple jump, Abraham "the rocket launcher" Falls in the Javelin and Anna "faster that a hummingbird" Holota in the 800 and 1500.   Athlete of the meet was Connor "the renaissance man" Harrision who, after setting two massive personal best in the 400, came back with with a strong anchor-leg in the 4 by 400 relay to help his team defeat cross-town rivals Mouat.  Congrats all. All team members must see Mr. Wight sometime today.  
     

    Attention ALL students.  ALL library books are due today!  Any lost, or damaged texts must be paid for by today.  Students who do not return their books will be billed and placed on the "Yearbook holdback list"

Yale Students Staying Up Late For A Good Cause!

On Friday night, about 300 enthusiastic students from Yale Secondary showed up for the school’s second annual all-night fundraising event, Live to Give.

Students rotated through 10 activity rooms throughout the building, including Hunger Games-themed activities, glow-in-the-dark dodgeball, a candy room, a mechanical bull ride and more.

Each student that attended had to raise at least $50, which will go towards building schools in Sierra Leone via the Canadian charity organization Free the Children.

Doug Primrose, a teacher at Yale, said they have nearly reached this year's fundraising goal of $20,000. READ MORE. . .

Get On The Bus Gus!!

The varsity boys basketball team starts their run in the BC Boys AAA Basketball Tournament next Wednesday, March 13 at the Langley Events Centre.  Fan busses are being organized to get as many Yale students as possible out to the 11:30 am game.  For $5 you can get a bus ride and a ticket into LEC to cheer on your Lions as they look to start the tourney with a big win.  Tickets are on sale at lunch in the main hallway.

The Class of 2013 held their annual Grad Fashion Show on Tuesday, February 19th. Over 40 grads participated and well over 150 were in attendance.  A great time was had by all!

Come and test drive a new Ford vehicle.  ***Must be 18 and have a valid driver's license.  One 5 minute test drive turns into $20 for the Yale Rugby program.

Dry Grad Parent Meeting!

Next Wednesday, February 13 @ 7:00pm, all interested parents of the grads of 2013 are invited to a meeting here at Yale. We will be discussing the Dry Grad event as well as any other topics/questions you might have. Hope to see you there!

Grade 12’s, the ABBOTSFORD COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS are here! These are the awards that are given out at Yale’s grad ceremony in May.

Check out the awards list because there are awards that appeal to a range of students – not just academics.  The online application form becomes active Friday, Feb. 8th. More information is available on Yale’s website and in the Counselling Centre. Have questions? See your counsellor. 

NOTE: To receive one, you need to APPLY. The deadline is 3pm Friday, March 8.

Track and Field Begins!

Track and field season is underway.   From now until spring break, practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 to 3:30.     All athletes should have proper gym strip, with good runners, and rain gear.   Meet in the cafeteria.  
 
After spring break, pracitices will be Monday through Thursday from 2:45 to 4:00. 

Yale January 2013 Exam Schedule!

Monday, Jan. 28 - Friday, Feb. 1 is exam week.  Please make sure you know when and where each of your exams are being held.  Get lots of sleep, eat breakfast, and study for your exams.  This is an important week: end the semester on a positive note.
