Upcoming Events & Date

FAMILY GATHERING: May 23, 2013 @ 6PM-8PM  Community Aboriginal Centre, 3277 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford.  Dinner Provided and Cultural Presentation to follow.  Everyone is Welcome. 

District Aboriginal Awards Night:  May 28th, 2013 at Abby Arts Centre- Registration @5 and awards from 6-8.  You will get an invitation in the mail if your child is receiving an award.

ABORIGINAL ARTIST IN RESIDENCE:  Jay Havens is at Yale Secondary School painting a mural on the wall outside the Aboriginal Room.  Many students have stopped by to admire his work and the art classes have all come by to learn from him.  He will be on campus on a part time basis until end of May.

HALQ'EMEYLEM CLASSES:  We currently have 6 students giving up their lunch hour once a week to learn the language of this territory.  The Sto:lo First Nations language has been in existence for thousands of years, but is at risk of becoming extinct.  If you are interested in learning a second language, please contact Mrs. Perrie in Room B103.  The class will start up again Second Semester.

DRUM MAKING:  Keith Point was here April 4, 2013 to teach and help 24 students make a drum.  He was here in December where 12 students were given the experience of making their own First Nations Drum to take home.
