Duck Brand Stuck at Prom Contest

Canada SOARS Awards

The Canadian Club of Vancouver gives awards from $200-$750 to grade 11 & 12 students with a 73% average. Deadline is May 3, 2010. Information and application form can be downloaded at Canadian Club 

BC Principals' and Vice-Principals' Association

Offers 3 awards for graduating students. Also one award from the Retired Principals & VP's Association, All have a value of $500 and are due September 17, 2010. . Download applications at BCPVPA

Monsanto  Opportunity Scholarships

Monsanto provides a number of $1500 scholarships for students from a farming family who are entering an agricultural program. Application deadline is May 14, 2010. A few applications are available in the counselling centre or check the Monsanto website Opportunity Scholarships

Retail as a Career Scholarships

Abbotsford Community Foundation Awards

The ACF booklet has been distributed to all interested grade 12 students. It contains over 200 awards offered by local groups. One application can be used to apply for any or all of the awards in the booklet. Extra copies of applications and booklets are available in the counselling centre. Applications should be handed in to the counselling centre by February 23. No applications will be accepted after 3:00 pm Feb 24, 2010.

Coast Capital Savings Education Awards

Two awards are available graduating students - Standing Tall award (16 available) and Citizenship award (32 available). Deadline March 31, 2010. More information and on-line applications at Coast Capital Savings Education Awards.

Simon Fraser University Awards

Lovison Family Memorial Scholarship

Father E Rosaia Scholarship

Two $1500 awards for Roman Catholic Italian-Canadian graduates with a B average. Info in the counselling centre

Aero Club of B.C. Scholarship

A $1000 award for a Canadian citizen involved in aviation or planning on an aviation career. More info in the counselling centre.

AES Engineering Award

AES Engineering gives $500 awards to students with strong character traits - not a high GPA. Applications are due October 8, 2010. More info available at AES Awards.

Kwantlen Entrance Awards

Kwantlen Polytechnic Entrance awards are now available. The Leaders of Tomorrow Award is valued at $20,000 and there are others valued up to $5000. More information and applications are available at www.kwantlen.ca/awards. Deadline for application is March 31, 2010.

Certified General Accountant (CGA) Awards

Envision Financial Education Award

RBC Royal Bank Award for New Canadians.

BC Innovation Council - 2 different awards, see Science teacher for info

 

1. BCIC Young Innovator Award

Awarded through Science Fair or Idea MashUp competition. Value: $2000. One per school. Can be used for entry into science, technology or business programs in BC.

 

2. TRIUMF High School Fellowship

A six-week summer term at UBC’s Nuclear Physics lab + $3000. Must have a passion for physics.

 

Terry Fox Humanitarian Award

For grade 12 students who have shown high ideals of citizenship also courage overcoming obstacles, involvement in humanitarian service and participation in sport, fitness and community service. Value $7000 per year- renewable. Due Feb 1, 2010. Info and application at www.terryfoxawards.ca

 

PDK Prospective Educator Scholarship

Miller-Thomson Foundation Scholarship

For grade 12’s with good marks, contribution to school and community through involvement in extracurricular activities (e.g. local clubs, organizations and community activities). Value $1000. Top 20 Under 20

For young people (must be under 20) who have a record of innovation, leadership and achievement. Of meeting personal challenges and of making a difference in school or the larger community. Passport to Education

The Ministry of Education provides awards for students who demonstrate excellence in their academic performance and who are good citizens of the school.  They provide 9000 stamps to schools in British Columbia, which translates into approximately 15% of the students in each school.  Students are eligible for $250.00, $250.00 and $500.00 in their grade 10, 11 and 12 years respectively. Scholarships and Bursaries Database

This chart of awards contains scholarships and bursaries that sent application information to Yale Secondary last year. There is a brief description of due dates, qualifications and award value as well as, in most cases, an internet link.

You can download the Excel file and print it out to make a chart identical to the one posted outside the counselling centre. That chart will be up-dated when new applications arrive. Any application packages we receive will be put out on the scholarship table in the counselling centre.
