GRADE 12 IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND DATES
(planning for next year after graduation)

1. Post Secondary Night (PSI night) - September 24th- 6:30 pm at Abbotsford Christian.......Recruiters from SFU, U Vic, Thompson Rivers, Kwantlen Polytechnic, BCIT, Armed Forces , UFV…..and many others will be at Abbotsford Christian to help you make decisions about possible post-secondary choices……bring your parents

2. Thursday October 1, at lunch (New Theater)…. overview of scholarship opportunities for students- the types of scholarships and due dates will be explained. Be prompt….

3. Thursday October 8, Grad Parent night (7:00pm - gym) - important information night for your parents—volunteering for grad events, over view of your grad year and scholarship opportunities

4. Friday, October 9 – District Authority Award Project Deadline. This award recognizes skill in non-academic areas. Students demonstrate their skill by producing a significant project and then presenting it in May. Information is available in the Counseling Centre or on Yale’s website.

5. Brittany Palmer Scholarship workshop- October 15h (4:30-5:30 pm in New Theater) before the Parent/Teacher interviews - Brittany will explain how to apply for scholarships and give advice on what to do to help win scholarships. This workshop is for both parents and students.

6. UBC visit to Yale- UBC recruiters will be at Yale on Wednesday November 4 at 7:00pm in the library- your parents are welcome to attend

7. Western University and Columbia Bible College- are you interested in going to Western University or Columbia Bible College…a recruiter will be at Yale on Friday November 6 at 2:30-3:30pm in the library. A recruiter from Columbia Bible Collage will be at Yale on Wed, October 21 at lunch- see your counselor if you are interested.

8. APPLYING TO UNIVERSITIES - counselors recommend that you apply to post-secondary institution(s) before the Christmas Holidays-apply online using the website ApplyBC for all BC institutions or go directly to the university website (remember, UFV accepts applications Oct 1-apply soon if you want to go to UFV)

9. SAT prep and test dates - SAT test dates at Yale are Saturday Dec 5 and Saturday June 4- to register you need to go to the College Board website https://sat.collegeboard.org/register (spots are limited-register early) SAT prep will be offered in semester two only.... contact the office to register in February 2016
